Walter R. Williams (better known as "Roy" by his associates) was born in New Britain, Connecticut on January 30, 1908. He attended the public schools of his home city through his sophomore year of high school. He then moved with his folks to Milford, Connecticut where he completed his high school education. As a result of his early formal training in pharmacy, he earned the degree of Graduate in Pharmacy (1928) and Pharmaceutical Chemist (1932) at the Connecticut College of Pharmacy. He also holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut and Master of Science from Yale University. He was a member of the faculty at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut. Brother Williams has long been identified with Kappa Psi, being a charter member of the Nu Chapter and of the Connecticut Graduate Chapter. He served as a Grand Council Deputy of Nu Chapter and he also served as Satrap of Province I. Past Grand Regent Williams belonged to Rho Chi Society, Sigma Xi, the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers, American Pharmaceutical Association, American Chemical Society, and Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association. He and Helen M. Sager were married in 1935, and were the parents of two sons.
