Donald Floriddia

Dr. Donald Floriddia, attended the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston and pledged in the Fall of 1962. He was also recruited by Phi Delta Chi, but turned them down to accept the fraternity of his choice, Kappa Psi. Within in Mu chapter, he served as Third Vice Regent, First Vice Regent, and then was Regent from 1965-1966. His first GCC was the 32nd in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his pharmacy degree in 1966 and entered the Master of Science program in pharmaceutics and graduated in 1968.

His attendance at the GCC in 1965 really set the motion for the rest of his career. He made connections with the Brothers of Gamma Nu and their advisor Dr. James King, who convinced him to teach at University of the Pacific. He led the Fraternity through difficult times in the as Executive Secretary/Executive Direction from 1973-1980.

Dr Floriddia joined University of the Pacific faculty in 1968 and earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences at UP.  He was appointed Executive Director of Kappa Psi in 1972. He received an M.S. in Nuclear Pharmacy Fellowship from the USC School of Pharmacy He is a co-founder of Pharm-Atomic, Inc., the first Centralized Nuclear Pharmacy in California. Dr. Floriddia created the Board of Pharmacy regulations overseeing nuclear pharmacy operations and drug distribution in California. In 1983, he was appointed as Chair of University of Pacific’s Department of Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry. Since 2000, he has served as associate dean of Student and Professional Affairs. In 2001, he was invited by Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research of the United Arab Emirates to serve on a review team for the pharmacy program of the Ajman University of Sciences and Technology in Dubai and Fujairah.

He has served in elected positions in state and national pharmacy organizations, has been inducted into several Hall of Fames, including the California Pharmacists Association’s Hall of Fame (2010) and the San Joaquin Pharmacists Association’s Hall of Fame (2012).
